Dr Sharvey Dhongde
Sharvey is a Professor of Architecture at Dr Bhanuben Nanavati College of Architecture, Pune and a practicing Architect registered with the Council of Architecture.
Sharvey also works in the field of heritage conservation and acts as the Co-Convener of INTACH (Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage), Maharashtra State Chapter and Convener of the Pune Regional Chapter. He has been closely associated with various heritage conservation and awareness initiatives by the organization. He has handled listing, documentation, and heritage impact assessment projects for various agencies. He has worked for the National Monuments Authority, Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), Dept of Archaeology- Govt. of Maharashtra, Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA), and Pune Municipal Corporation on various heritage related projects.
Sharvey has authored a book on the heritage of Aurangabad district in Maharashtra and co-edited a book on Ar Achyut Kanvinde. He has also co-authored a book on conservation studies of the core city of Pune funded by the Swedish Development Agency SIDA.
Sharvey has a Doctoral degree in Architecture from the Savitribai Phule Pune University. His doctoral thesis explores the relationship of culture and architecture through historic houses. He is an M.Arch from McGill University, Montreal, Canada and has done his B.Arch from University of Pune. He has worked under Ar. Stanley Tigerman and interior designer Eva Maddox while completing a post graduate diploma in alternative design at Archeworks, Chicago, USA, largely comprising on real community based projects. He has been an apprentice with Ar. Balkrishna Doshi’s Vastu-Shilpa Foundation, Ahmedabad, India and has also contributed to two of their publications on architecture.
